1. Acceptance of Terms
By using unclutr files, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. License to Use
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use unclutr files for personal use on macOS.
3. User Conduct
You agree not to misuse the app, including but not limited to:
- Attempting to access or process files without proper authorization (e.g., outside folders you have explicitly selected)
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or modifying the software
- Using the app for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable data privacy laws
4. User Responsibilities
- You are responsible for choosing which folders to scan. unclutr files only accesses locations you explicitly select via the macOS file picker.
- You are responsible for reviewing duplicates before deletion. The app suggests duplicates; you decide what to remove.
- We are not responsible for unauthorized access due to failure to secure your Mac or credentials.
5. Deletion & Trash
- Move to Trash: unclutr files deletes files by moving them to the macOS Trash. There is no permanent delete in the app.
- Undo: The app supports "Undo last trash run" to restore items from Trash, subject to what is still available in Trash and whether original paths are writable.
- No Auto-Delete: You explicitly choose which duplicates to remove. The app does not delete anything automatically.
6. Liability Disclaimer
unclutr files is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We are not liable for any damages resulting from the use of the app, including accidental deletion of files.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free operation.
- Duplicate detection is byte-for-byte; we take care to avoid false positives, but you should review results before deleting.
7. Termination Clause
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access at any time for:
- Violation of these terms
- Abusive behavior
- Legal compliance reasons
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of unclutr files after changes constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of France.
10. Billing & Subscriptions
- Some features of unclutr files may require a paid subscription or one-time purchase.
- Depending on how you obtained the app or subscription, purchases may be made through the Mac App Store or through a direct purchase from us (for example, via our website).
- We use RevenueCat to validate purchase status and manage entitlements across app sessions.
Refunds
- Mac App Store purchases: Refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Please request a refund through your Apple account / the App Store.
- Direct purchases: Refund requests are handled by us. Contact us via the contact form with your order details.
- EU/EEA consumers (and similar local rights): If you are purchasing as a consumer and local law grants a withdrawal right (often 14 days), you may be eligible for a refund within that period. For digital content/services, this right may be lost once you expressly consent to immediate access/performance and acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right.
- Fraud/abuse: Where permitted by law, we may deny refunds in cases of fraud, abuse, or repeated excessive refund requests.
